Author Guidelines

I. Introduction

The Andalasian International Journal of Agricultural and Natural Sciences (AIJANS) is an international journal that publishes research related to agriculture and applied natural sciences. The journal welcomes original research articles, short communications, and review articles. By submitting a paper, authors are confirming that the manuscript has not been published elsewhere and is not currently under consideration for publication in any other journal, except in abstract form or as part of a lecture or academic thesis.

II. Before You Begin

II.1 Ethics in Publishing

Authors must follow ethical standards in research and publication. Detailed guidelines on ethical publishing practices are available on the Publication Ethics page. Submissions should not contain any form of plagiarism or data fabrication. The journal uses plagiarism detection tools to ensure the originality of submitted works.

II.2 Conflict of Interest

All authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its publication. This includes financial, personal, or professional relationships that could affect the integrity of the research.

II.3 Submission Declaration

Submitting an article implies that:

  • The work has not been published previously.
  • It is not under review elsewhere.
  • All authors have approved the submission.
  • If accepted, the work will not be published elsewhere in the same form or in any language, without written permission from the journal.

II.4 License and Copyright

Once accepted, articles are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. This allows others to share the work as long as appropriate credit is given to the authors and the original publication in AIJANS is acknowledged. Authors retain full copyright of their work and can reuse their content freely as long as they adhere to the terms of the license.

II.5 Language

All submissions must be in standard American English. Authors are strongly encouraged to use grammar and spell-checking tools before submission. Professional editing services are recommended for non-native English speakers to ensure clarity and quality.

II.6 Submission Process

AIJANS accepts submissions exclusively through its online submission system. Authors will be guided through the process of creating and uploading the necessary files. All correspondence, including decisions and requests for revisions, will be handled via email and the author’s account in the system. It is important to note that during revisions, only the revised manuscript needs to be uploaded, as the original files remain accessible to the handling editor.

III. Preparation of the Manuscript

III.1 Use of Word-processing Software

Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word format and saved in the native format of the word-processor. Submissions must be in Arial 11 font, with full justification. The manuscript should include:

  • Single spacing for abstracts, references, figure captions, and tables.
  • 1.5-line spacing for the main body of the text.
  • A maximum length of 20 pages for original research articles, 10 pages for short communications, and 30 pages for review articles.
  • Left and right margins of 3.0 cm.
  • Page numbers at the bottom center of each page.

Title Page: The title should be in Arial 12 bold and concise, avoiding abbreviations and formulae. Directly beneath the title, list the names of all authors and their affiliations, including postal codes. Use superscripts to link authors to their respective affiliations, and mark the corresponding author with an asterisk (*).
Headings: Main headings (e.g., Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion) should be in bold and typed in capital italics. All headings should be aligned to the left.
Figures and Tables: Do not embed figures and tables within the text. Instead, include them at the end of the manuscript, after the reference list, and indicate their approximate location within the text (e.g., "Insert Figure 1 here").

III.2 Article Structure

Introduction
The introduction should clearly explain the background and context of the research, provide a review of relevant literature, and clearly state the research problem or objective. Avoid extensive literature reviews or summarizing results.

Methods
This section should describe the research design, including sampling methods, data collection, experimental setup, and any statistical tools used for analysis. Include enough detail so that another researcher could replicate the study. Previously published methods should be referenced, with only modifications described in detail.

Results
The results section should present the data clearly and concisely, using tables and figures where appropriate. Avoid repetition between text and figures/tables. Results should be presented without interpretation.

Discussion
In the discussion, interpret the results in the context of existing research. Highlight any new insights your work contributes, compare your results with other studies, and address any limitations of the research.

Conclusion
The conclusion should briefly summarize the key findings and their significance. Provide suggestions for future research where appropriate.

Acknowledgments
If applicable, acknowledge any financial support, grants, or assistance from individuals or institutions.

III.3 Abstract

An abstract of up to 250 words should succinctly describe the purpose, methods, key results, and conclusions. Avoid references or abbreviations unless essential, and ensure the abstract can stand alone.

III.4 Keywords

Immediately after the abstract, include 3-6 keywords to assist with indexing and searchability. Choose keywords that represent the core concepts of the paper.

III.5 Abbreviations

Define all abbreviations that are not standard in the field upon their first mention. Ensure consistency in abbreviations throughout the text.

III.6 Supplementary Materials

If supplementary materials are necessary (e.g., additional tables, figures, or datasets), label them as S1, S2, etc., and submit them in a separate file.

III.7 References

Authors should use a consistent referencing style throughout the manuscript. For this journal, APA or Vancouver citation styles are recommended. Citations should be listed in numerical order as they appear in the text. Ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list.

IV. Artwork and Tables

IV.1 Artwork Guidelines

Ensure that figures are prepared at high resolution:

  • TIFF for halftones (minimum 300 dpi).
  • TIFF for line drawings (minimum 1000 dpi).
  • EPS for vector graphics.

Provide figure captions separately and ensure that all symbols and abbreviations used in the figures are explained.

IV.2 Table Guidelines

Tables should be numbered consecutively and include a concise title. All tables should be cited in the text and placed after the references in the manuscript. Avoid duplicating information in tables and figures.

V. After Acceptance

V.1 Proofs

Authors will receive page proofs (PDF format) via email. The corresponding author is responsible for checking the accuracy of the typesetting, tables, figures, and any additional edits. Significant changes to the accepted manuscript will only be considered with permission from the editor.

V.2 Offprints

Authors will receive a free PDF of their published article. Additional offprints can be ordered at the author’s expense.

VI. Author Inquiries

For submission inquiries or to track the status of submitted articles, authors should visit the journal homepage. For questions related to the post-acceptance process, including proofs, authors may contact the journal's production team as provided in the acceptance email.
